Green Party of Manitoba leader James Beddome is taking on NDP leader Wab Kinew in their Fort Rouge riding.
Kinew currently represents the riding, and with the 10-year review of the electoral boundaries, Beddome will now be running in Fort Rouge as well.
"Ultimately, I think I'd make a good representative for the people and I want to serve in the riding where I live, where I think I have a degree of support," Beddome said Thursday.
"I mean, there might have been thoughts that 'yeah, I'm running up against another party leader', but I think there are actual questions with respect to the record of the NDP that need to be challenged."
The Green Party of Manitoba believes in the importance of empowering local voices and listening to its constituents. Given the recent surge of Green support in Manitoba, it appears that Manitobans are embracing a new way of doing politics.
